This is the first compilation of this kind in the recent years, focusing on the wide spectrum of quality design opportunities Rome presently offers. On top of architects of international stature such as Hadid, Fuksas, Baldeweg, Meier Rome is also a lab for testing the ideas of many Italian designers, such as King Roselli, Labics, IAN+, only to mention a few. If on one hand one might note the weakness of the residential sector in attracting architectural quality, on the other one witnesses the growing attention paid to public spaces and infrastructures, and the fact that most projects of significance are public or religious. Churches confirm the fact that, even today, in Rome religious buildings constitute special tests. Anyone keen to understand the conflictual relationship Italy sustains with contemporary architecture is bound to find this book of special interest.
